The filling can be very diverse, from sweet, to meat or any vegetable options. Today I will tell you how to cook the "Snail" pie on kefir with stewed cabbage and mashed potatoes. The pastries are not only very tender and tasty, but also quite satisfying. It can completely replace dinner or a nutritious snack during the day. Try it!
Prepare all ingredients. Mashed potatoes can be prepared ahead of time, or leftovers from yesterday's dinner can be used. Optionally, you can cook without it at all.
Whisk the egg and salt.
Add kefir and soda. Stir.
Add 2 cups flour.
Stir and pour in the oil.
Then add the remaining flour in portions, it usually takes about 3.5 cups. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky to your hands. Collect it in a ball, grease with oil, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
In the meantime, you can prepare the filling. The filling can be very diverse. I fried onions, added cabbage and stewed everything until tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.
To make the pastries more satisfying, I added mashed potatoes and mixed everything well.
Divide the dough into 4-5 pieces, roll each piece in flour and roll out in the shape of a rectangle. Spread the filling on top, slightly stepping back from one edge.
Roll the dough with the filling into a roll, pinch the edges and seam.
Grease a baking dish with oil. Place one roll in the middle, twisting it like a snail. Repeat the same manipulations with the remaining parts of the dough, laying them out in a circle. You should get such a round snail-shaped pie.
Lubricate the dough with yolk, you can sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in the oven at 180 degrees for about 30-40 minutes. The top should be browned.
Pie "Snail" on kefir is ready. Tasty both warm and cold.
