It is surprising that kvass is obtained from apples as close as possible to the taste that we remember from childhood. Be sure to prepare this delicious drink. Follow the recipe and the result will please you.
Prepare the required ingredients.
Spread the apples on a baking sheet and put in preheated to 180 degrees for 5-7 minutes.
Apples should be browned, light tan marks are allowed.
Take a 1.5 liter jar. Transfer the apples to it, tamp them slightly and pour boiling water over it. Stir with a spoon. Leave it on for 10 minutes. During this time, a small amount of water will be absorbed into the apples, so add more boiling water to the very neck of the jar.
Cover the jar with a lid and leave for 1.5 hours.
After the time has elapsed, add sugar, stir. Leave it on for another 20 minutes. It is necessary for the sugar to dissolve.
Strain the contents of the jar through a sieve. We won't need apples anymore.
Add yeast to the apple broth and stir. At this point, the water should not have cooled completely yet. The temperature should be around 35-30 degrees.
Pour the yeast broth into a larger jar. Pour in another 1-1.5 liters of warm water. Cover with gauze and leave at room temperature for 3-5 hours.
After the indicated time, shake the jar, foam should appear on the surface. This suggests that kvass can already be tasted. It should not have a harsh yeast flavor. Cool the finished kvass and serve.
