When the thermometer inexorably creeps up and crosses the 30-degree mark, it becomes simply impossible to be outside the air-conditioned room. On a hot street, thoughts often lead us to one thing – we ought to buy ice cream! A cold dessert promises salvation, and we easily succumb.
In a couple of minutes we get the coveted cooling, but, alas, this feeling is too short-lived and deceiving. The thing is that the ice dessert really cools the mouth, but then the body temperature rises rapidly. Ice cream usually contains a lot of protein and sugar, and the body will need a lot of energy to break them down. To digest cold ice cream, we need more heat, which means the effect is the opposite of what is expected.
In addition, eating ice-cold ice cream in the heat can provoke not only a short-term runny nose, but also cause acute respiratory infections. It's all to blame for the contrast in temperatures. And a dessert that is too sweet will make you even more thirsty.
But do not rush to give up your favorite treat, there is good news too. Allowing yourself ice cream in the summer heat is quite possible if you follow a few recommendations. As much as you would like to try it right away, wait a couple of minutes. Slightly heated ice cream is quite safe for the throat. And to protect yourself from an additional increase in body temperature, give preference to natural sorbet. The low fat and sugar content will help the body digest the dessert easily.
Making natural and delicious ice cream at home is as easy as shelling pears. You can take it with you when going for a walk, or enjoy it immediately after returning.
