Description of the preparation:
Sponge cake syrup can be prepared in just 5-6 minutes with all the ingredients. It turns out not too viscous, but not liquid. To prevent sugar from petrifying again when heated and mixed with water, be sure to add acid: lemon juice, citric acid or apple cider vinegar.
Prepare the indicated products. Lemon can be replaced with concentrated lemon juice.
Pour granulated sugar into a container with a non-stick bottom: cauldron, ladle, pan, etc. Squeeze the lemon juice. Since sugar is sold today with additives, the addition of acid is a must, otherwise sugar will be caramelized again!
Pour in warm water and place the bowl on the stove. Do not change the amount of ingredients, as you will receive either liquid syrup or caramel, which instantly thickens. Place a container on the stove, including medium heat. With strong heating, the syrup will quickly acquire a brown tint, with weak heating it will boil for a long time. The best option – the liquid should be covered with large white bubbles. Stew it for about 4-5 minutes, stirring it with a silicone spatula or spoon from time to time. Remember that the syrup is very hot and can burn!
As soon as it begins to acquire a light caramel hue – turn off the heat. Pour the cooked syrup into a bowl or bowl, a gravy boat. Cool slightly, but remember that when cooling it will become even thicker. Then use it as intended – soak the cut biscuits and leave for 20-30 minutes.
