The dish is easy to prepare and really tasty, very much like a lazy paella. Sometimes ham or several types of sausages, hot peppers, oregano or dried basil are added to it.
Prepare all the ingredients you need. You will need smoked or smoked sausages for cooking. Peel and wash onions, garlic and peppers.
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan, put sausages cut into circles, fry for a minute over moderate heat.
Remove the sausages from the pan. Put finely chopped onions and bell peppers in the same oil. Fry for 5 minutes until soft.
Add chopped garlic and tomatoes in your own juice, simmer for another 5 minutes.
Rinse the rice thoroughly to clean water, add to the pan along with the sausages, mix.
Pour hot water or broth into the pan, it should be one centimeter higher than the contents of the pan. Season immediately with salt and pepper to taste, add sugar. If desired, you can add hot peppers for piquancy. Cook over low heat, covered, for 15-17 minutes.
After a while, turn off the stove, but leave the dish under the lid for another 10 minutes. During this time, the rice swells well and absorbs almost all the gravy.
Divide the finished dish into portions and serve. Rice is often sprinkled with chopped parsley or cilantro when serving.
